makaruns

i notice that desserts have expiry dates, especially in kl. which is a bit funny to me because i thought that only happens in fashion. a couple of years ago there were these cute cupcakes, and when people got sick of them red velvet cakes came to the rescue. after red velvet, frozen yogurt TF was introduced and got people go all crazy over it. and now.....there's macaroons.

when i first heard about macaroons, i was in melbourne. got curious and bought my first macaroons from Laurent. i remember it tasted too sweet for my liking and it literally made me not want to eat them anymore. then months later we were given free macaroons (below) by this person at this french cafe (in melbs as well) that i cant recall the name of. i was quite reluctant to eat just because i know it's gonna taste as sweet. true enough. in the end i had to force myself to swallow.

when i came back to mesia last year, i remember this confectionary(?) wasnt trending, yet. but soon, it became the talk of the town. i personally had no heart to ever eat them again, until..... a few weeks ago. KT talked about it and i accidentally had a crave for it. literally. haha. went crazy looking for 'em. just ask MM. after two weeks, i discovered one shop that sells them. it's from Babycakes Sweet Shoppe.

four words: too sweet & too crunchy

from what i gather, macaroons are supposed to be chewy and not too sweet. so that was a disappointment.

then, this cafe 'found' me on twitter. so i followed it back and guess what, they sell macs! so i dragged MM and off we go to Tmn. Melawati. the newly opened cafe is called Bread Ties. if you look at their macs, you'd laugh (not in a bad way) because the shapes are inconsistent and cute! some are big and some small and one of them looked like what eh mok? hahaha. nah, proof.

tasted better than babycakes'. and get this, they're CHEAP.
get the green ones. yums.

then KT and me discovered more macaroons in Harrods, KLCC. awesome. just awesome because i dont have to look so far anymore. 6 pieces cost rm19.10 (plus tax). i would say Harrods macaroons are somewhat near the real ones. not that their's arent real. i meant the texture and taste are close to the ones from Paris. not too sweet but still have some air in it. half crunchy and half chewy. nevertheless, i love them all the same.

these are the second best.

okay, one last review on macaroons and im done. about two weeks ago i ordered some macs from Paris (thanks KT and KT's friend) and got them last friday. i was (and still!) excited that i didnt want to eat them. i just stared at these lovely, yummy, healthy looking macaroons. i could go on awe-ing and staring for days but KT stopped me short. hehe. so i tried one and POOF! im in heaven. hallelujah. LOL. the sweetness, the density and the satisfaction after eating them are priceless.

drools.

there. i am DONE! phew.

previously on Def

it's been two months since i started working and i haven't really blogged about it. so this is my attempt on doing so. most people would ask 'hows work?' and i'd say 'it's fine.' or 'im getting use to it now.' and if you ask if i like the job, i'd say 'i dont like it but i dont hate it either.' to be honest, i am getting better with my work and i just love that i could type faster than before. when i first started, i was stressed as hell and nervous all the time. i'd tell my orientation buddy about it and he'd always say 'dont worry. you'll get there.' so now, i am there. just need a little more practice doing interviews and talk backs and THEN i'll be just fineeee.

okay, enough about work. lets talk about my colleagues! fyi, im the oldest in my department but definitely not the oldest in the clique. *phew* anyways, they are the best. not that my colleagues in Cyber weren't (love y'all loooong time!) *hugs* hehe. my first time meeting them was a bit of a shock. they are waayyyyy modern and open-minded. like way waaaayyyyyyyy. haha. but that's a good thing i guess. it's an eye-opener. when they tell stories, you'd see my eyes go WIDE and my heart goes, 'are you effing kidding me?' or 'yaAllah' or 'astarfirullah'. but most of the time it's 'yaAllah'. yeah, they're THAT open but i like it. they're not shy about the things they do nor try to cover up things. its good for me because everyday im well-informed on so many things. politics (yuck, but yeah), dictatorships, crushes, ex-boyfriends, sex, sex, more sex. hahaha. fun, isnt it? :D

my work isnt really a relaxed kinda job. well, it depends on the person lah. my buddy and neighbor say it is. but anyways, since our job is kinda relaxed, we get to do so many things while doing our work. okay, not everyone. just me and Ish. and we did the things below in between work. he puts one card, then back to typing. i dropped one card and then back to face the monitor. hehe

we'd play Uno when we thought our manager isnt looking.
guilty!

once we just started drawing and drawing.

and oh, we are the Honorable Council of the Backside Girls.
Ish is of course the president and im the vice president.

and here's Ish.
handsome, as always.

so you see, i've somehow become a kid again. mischievous at times. LOL. we do learn from the best, dont we?

(W)eekends!

weekends should be spent with

picnics

relaxing on the beach
or

reading or shopping or sleeping.

but my weekends weren't as fun. while everyone got to stay at home doing absolutely nothing, going out with friends, watching movies, I had to WORK. my dad opened a cafe at a local university and it only operates on the weekends. so naturally, I had to help.and oh, mom too. since then, our weekends are gone. we'd wake up (very) early in the morning to help with stuff, cooking etc. then while working, i would be thinking of monday. i swear i never looked forward to mondays before! haha. and there were moments where i'd wish i'd be at home or at someone's wedding. BUT fret no more..because my work ended last weekend! yay!

for those who might not know, i've gotten a job in KL(woot!) and will be starting next week. i know im supposed to be excited but i am scared + nervous + worried = puke. i've been dreaming of this for so long that when it really happens, i got all crazy. panic even. lalala.

BUT i can't wait for future meet-ups with the girls! and when i said meet-ups i meant, getting drunk and fly high in the skyyyyyyy. okay, maybe not. but you get the idea. so mundane munster, i WILL bring your dvds along and pass them to you. to fragile heart, i WILL try to find the time to look at your ipod because i have never seen or heard a case like yours. most intriguing. lol. to irda, nats and hana, i can't wait to strike a pose together! weeeee

i'll see all y'all soon!

(X)oxo

X is a very difficult alphabet to tackle, so i looked in the dictionary and found only a few words under X like xylophone, xylograph, xmas and xanthippe? lol. i don't relate to those things, so i can't write much about it without having to google or wiki. so, i decided to blog on xoxo! i've no idea where it came from but i know it's another way of saying Hugs and Kisses. but then again, why use 'x' and 'o'? why not 'h' and 'k'. wouldn't it makes more sense? h for hugs, k for kisses. you don't say 'xugs' and 'oisses'? imagine ur friend saying, "aww...xugssss" or "biiiggg xugs". hahaha. but i guess, using 'h' and 'k' would look weird like this for example,

Get well soon!
Don't forget to take medicine.

hkhk,

fofana

boy, that is hilarious. haha. but i'm sure when they (whoever started it) first use xoxo, people were confused and thought, 'wth is that?' (that would be me). and later, people grew into the idea of it and soon using it almost anywhere. Like in emails, social networking sites, text messages as well as on paper. i do admit i use it occasionally. especially when a friend does it first, then i'll return the 'xoxo' to her. well, not necessarily but you get the idea. tell me this..when you use 'xoxo', do you really mean it or it's just a mere social necessity/accessory that you use at the end of ur texts/short messages?

Y for

Yours Truly!

this was me at the age of..um, 5 or 6? i know, cute right? haha. i loove this picture and i think that (maybe) both my parents keep the same photo in their wallet and purse. aawww.. anyhoo, my cuteness only lasted for a while and i grew up looking like this... (i'm not proud of this but..here it goes)

TADAA..!
i was a complete DORK! HAHA. look at me. i wore huge glasses, huge sequined headband, a medium sized tiered dress (which i used to love), a pair of um..fluffy lacy socks and a pair of what-seemed-like-brogues (konon) maybe? okay not brogue but a hideous pair of shoes. i looked ugleyhh. but heyyy, at that exact moment, i thought i look pretty fancy (quite delusional i must say). i mean, i was a kid and i wear whatever mom bought for me. kinda like trusting her as my personal stylist. on second thought...maybe not. haha. later on.. (after skipping years of high schools and universities) i decided to look like this..

haha.
okay lah, serious serious.

now, that's the real me.
shy shy one.
hihi.

i just wanted to show off my ring. hence, the tutup mata. like i'm actually shy lah.

With love,
Yours Truly

jumping straight to O!

i wanted to do Y but i can't wait to do O. O for Oreo! after watching the new Oreo ad, i was intrigued by their new 'beri biru' flavor. i was like, whaaa...att? beri biru? it took me a few seconds to realized that they meant blueberry. gila direct translation. tsk tsk. anyhoo, that didn't stop me from going to Giant and from browsing the biscuits aisle just to find this...cream biscuit. got home and immediately ripped off the packaging (tudia, rakus. haha) and popped one in my mouth. the ad/packaging claimed that it tastes like ice cream, it did NOT. the Oreo Ice Cream Blueberry biscuits tasted minty instead. i kid you not. they're like breath mints, only with chocolate biscuits outside. BUT, after my second piece of Oreo, i somehow liked it. not crazy like but like like.

give it a try lah. you'll proble like it. but hey..maybe it tastes better after 'dunk'ing it in a glass of milk. yeah..

okay, on an entirely different note, i cut my finger while working yesterday. boo. it's like a paper cut accident only it was from the extremely thin handle(?) of the senduk nasi. -.- it hurts the same yo.

pain!

let's start with Z

the Zoo! what's not to love about zoos, right? i've always loved going to the zoo. one of the first places i went shortly after arriving in Melbourne, was the zoo. in fact, i went there twice! it would have been thrice(?) if i didn't have to work on the day Hana went with my brother.boo. on the second and the last time i went, my housemates and brother were there with me.it was my pre-departure farewell picnic.i wore the most colourful dress i had in my wardrobe. and of course we took pictures of ourselves more than the animals. haha. no lah, where got. my brother lah ni. he excluded almost all of them animals pictures. hence, u'll see more of us here!

don't ask what that giraffe is doing to the other giraffe.
lol.

next zoo destination: Zoo Negara

cant wait!

Alhamdulillah
thank you Allah.

i see food

recently, we went to have some seafood at this huge restaurant which i can't remember the name.we used to go there for birthday dinners but stopped going for few years. i don't recall why but i think it has got something to do with the absence of my brother. anyhoo, this time we decided to go to celebrate mom's birthday. i managed to take a few pictures of the restaurant's exterior.

these are just the outside.
it's much bigger than it seems.
i only took the views from our table.

our entree.
the yummiest steamed nuts(?)

the food took a long time to arrive.
so, i did what i think was cool.
playing with the chopsticks!

the the food came

yeah, only three lauks.
boring, i know.

then i stopped to see their gigantic aquariums.

geoduck? wth are those? then i wiki-ed it and it says, they're from the clam family. one geoduck is approximately 15 to 20cm. that is quite long for a clam, i tell you. and you might wonder how does it related to ducks.well, it has NOTHING to do with those birds! funny, right? it was just because of poor transcription! imagine it's ur name or mine. Nor Finaduck. haha. okay, not funny. plus, this geoduck costs a whopping RM350 each! who would freaking eat it?! not me. even looking at it makes me squirm. and the lobsters, they go for RM45/100gram. i bet these lobsters weigh tons! okay, not funny again.

but hey, the next time any of you (friends only, of course) come to jb, let's eat here! provided i've a job already lah. :D
